This unique tour of our most prestigious downtown buildings starts at the Plankinton Building and ends at the Milwaukee Art Museum with its stunning new architecture. Meet in front of the statue (street level lobby at T.J. Maxx entrance) in the Plankinton Building (Shops of Grand Avenue) 161 W. Wisconsin Ave.

East Town Elegance

June 5 to October 9 at 10:00am
See diverse architectural styles, from the massive arches of the old Federal Building to the sleek lines of the 20th century high rise office structures. This year we are highlighting the Pfister Hotel and the Marcus Corporation as our 2009 Remarkable Milwaukee Honoree for the beautiful preservation of the Historic Pfister Hotel. Meet inside the Wisconsin Avenue entrance of the Pfister Hotel.

Lake Drive Mansions

June 5 to October 9 at 10:00am
Lake Drive features some of Milwaukee’s largest mansions, along with a vast array of turn of the century homes. Meet at the N.E. corner of Lincoln Memorial Drive and Lake Drive.

Historic Third Ward

June 5 to October 9 at 1:00pm
This up-and-coming area grew out of the ashes of the 1892 fire that destroyed an early Irish neighborhood. Learn of its becoming a desired location for condos, boutiques, theaters, restaurants and pubs. Meet in front of the Milwaukee Public Market, 400 N. Water Street at the corner of Water and St. Paul.

Six Points Tour

June 5 - October 9 at 1:00pm
North Avenue was the northernmost boundary of the city of Milwaukee when it was incorporated in 1846 and thus became known as “North Point”. Find out the history of one of the most bustling commercial and residential areas in the city and pick up fresh flowers or veggies at the East Side Open Market. Meet at the S.E. corner of Kenilworth Avenue and North Avenue.

Historic Yankee Hill

June 6 – October 10 at 1:00pm
The bluffs above Lake Michigan made this a desirable location for the city’s elite in the Victorian Era. View the churches and mansions left behind by the early Yankee settlers.
Meet in the lobby of the Astor Hotel, 924 E. Juneau Avenue.

North Point Mansions

June 6 – October 10 at 1:00pm
The homes found in the North Point neighborhood with its fairy tale water tower run the gamut from Tudor to Wright’s prairie style.
Meet at the fountain near the S.E. corner of North Avenue and Lake Drive.

Twilight Tours

These Tuesday and Thursday evening tours offer you the chance to enjoy one of our lovely summer nights in Milwaukee. Consider making a night of it . . . take a tour and then enjoy dinner or dessert at a number of restaurants in the tour neighborhoods. Ask your tour guide or fellow tour takers for their favorites!

Tuesday Twilight tour

German Heritage Tour

Old World Third Street has buildings from the late 1800’s with a distinctly Teutonic flavor. Hear about and view businesses and locales instrumental in making the city into a “Deutsche Athens.” Meet in front of Turner Hall, 1034 N. 4th St.

Thursday

Brady Street Tour

June - August at 5:30pm
This East Side neighborhood with its Polish and Italian working class communities, briefly became Milwaukee’s counter-culture stronghold in the 60’s and 70’s.
Meet at the N.E. corner of Humboldt Avenue and Brady Street in front of Street Hedwig’s Church.
