Old Soldiers Home Tour

One of three homes for disabled volunteer soldiers, signed into being by President Lincoln in 1865 and opened in 1867. Lincoln called upon Americans to, “To Care for Him Who Shall Have Borne the Battle, and for His Widow and His Orphan.” Today, known as the Clement J. Zabloki VA Medical Center, the VA still stand on its historic site and is rarely opened to the public. The Soldiers Home Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and on the Wisconsin Register of Historic Places. Meet at the open air pavillion on the lagoon behind the Clement J. Zabloki VA Medical Center, take W. Washington Street around the hospital to Lake Wheeler Road.
Walker’s Point:

Walker’s Point has retained much of its 19th century charm and flavor. It has evolved into an exciting bohemian neighborhood with lots to offer in arts, culture and architectural appeal. Our bike tour covers approximately 10 miles at an easy pace with expert riders to keep you safe.
Meet in front of M&I Bank at 4th and National Avenue.
Menomonee Valley:
Bike Tour – Bring your own bike!

This valley could be called the cradle of Milwaukee’s early industry. It has lain almost dormant for many years and only recently been re-awakened by determined non-profit groups such as the Menomonee Valley Partners and the Friends of the Hank Aaron State Trail. Our bike tour covers approximately 3 miles at an easy pace. Bring your lunch money, we’ll stop for lunch at Palermo’s Pizza, return back to the start point is optional. Meet in the Parking Lot of the Harley-Davidson Museum, 400 W. Canal Street. (needs confirmation)
Forest Home Cemetery

Since 1850 Forest Home Cemetery has been the final resting place of choice for Milwaukee’s first families. Politicians, industrialists and beer barons alike have preserved their names in stone in this beautiful cemetery.
